Anybody that knows Houston realizes that this is a big 'ol storm. No worries tho, they are saying that we'll get a few inches of rain and some decent wind, but that should be it.
I miss Florida and all the buildup and anticipation of a good hurricane. People scrambling to Home Depot for plywood and to Wal-Mart for bottled water and batteries. Bottom level reporters on the network totem pole standing out in the heavy winds and rain. Then, right before the thing made landfall, when the storm surge was at it's peak, the news story that the surfers were out in force.
"...witnesses on the scene described seeing a shaved-head, 30-something male, wearing a t-shirt that read 'Fuck cancer, I win!' and nothing else, surfing a 40-foot wave as it came into shore. Clearly, this was the best hurricane ever. Back to you, Tom"
